About Lauri Kubuitsile

Lauri Kubuitsile is a full-time writer living in Botswana.

She has published three children’s books, a book for young adults, three detective novellas,three collections of short stories for children co-written with two other Botswana writers and a collection of her own short stories set in Botswana titled In the Spirit of McPhineas lata and Other Stories. She has published four romance novels with Sapphire Press: Kwaito Love, Can He Be The One?, Mr Not Quite Good Enough and Love in the Shadows.

Kubuitsile was the 2007 winner of the BTA/ Anglo Platinum Short Story Contest and the recipient of the Botswana Ministry of Youth and Culture’s Orange Botswerere Award for Creative Writing in the same year. In 2009 she won the Baobab Literary Prize (USA) in the junior category and in 2010 in the senior category. She was on the shortlist for the 2011 Caine Prize.

Kubuitsile has also recently tried her luck with self publishing ebooks. She’s published three of her novellas in the Kate Gomolemo Mysteries series (there are four in total in the series, three of which are publishing traditionally too). They are Murder for Profit, Anything for Money, and Claws of a Killer.
